Free Music Download: The Tressels – American Sunset EP

You won’t have to wait until their album release party here on Friday, November 18 – you can download The Tressels new album HERE.

From TheKey.org:
“The four-piece does play rock, of the roots-Americana variety; it plays bars as well, and proudly, routinely storming the Trophy Tavern in its hometown. The band’s loud riffs and shouted refrains sound custom-designed to be heard over the din of clanging bottles and rumbling conversation. But also there’s depth, sincerity and serious storytelling skill to this group that shouldn’t be readily dismissed. Their latest EP, American Sunset, was born of what frontman Butch calls an extremely difficult year for he and his fellow Tressels, and it sees the group reflecting on those personal struggles in song. The kicker is the heartbreaking ‘Priscilla’ .”

Also performing with The Tressels on November 18:  Chris Piola, The Northeast, Justin Phillippi and Alex Vans.

Bandcamp sets its sights on conquering music industry, MySpace

From nydailynews.com:

Is the music age of the once-mighty MySpace coming to a close?

With the social-networking company on News Corp’s chopping block and half of the staff slashed last month, the site appears to be in a free fall.

In the fading light of the social network, there is a place musicians are turning to: Bandcamp. Taking up the DIY mantle, the company, launched in 2007, offers musicians the chance to sell and promote their tunes directly to the people. Founder Ethan Diamond describes the site as “a publishing platform for bands … your fifth, fully geeked-out Beatle — the one who keeps your very own website humming and lets you get back to making great music and building your fan base.”

Diamond’s mind-set may be just what independent musicians were looking for.

The Heat Run (ex-Oso) – One More Shot

The Heat Run is an indie-groove-folk collective based in Philadelphia. Brothers Mike and Steve Schaller began their musical collaboration as Oso, but it evolved into something new that demanded a new name and a fresh start when Steve introduced his brother to Ms. Mandy Shearer, an old friend from Virginia. A musical and romantic connection was immediate and they began churning out a bountiful harvest of new material that drew inspiration from the classic outlaw country, bluegrass, and soul records in Mandy’s record collection as well as the indie, surf, dub, and psychedelic rock in Mike’s. The now married couple introduced the batch of songs to the other members of Oso (including bassist Mike Gordon and drummer Josh Fullam) and the soulful, foot-stomping, hand clapping, group sing-a-longs that define The Heat Run’s music ensued.

The Heat Run won’t be at The Grape Room until March 1st but you can download their song “One More Shot” for free HERE.
