This Sunday: Polkadot Cadaver

From TriStateIndie.com:
Baltimore based cult favorites Polkadot Cadaver will release their new record Sex Offender on Rotten Records May 10th [preorder it here]. I get acquainted with the band via a couple of videos from their first record Purgatory Dance Party. The songs are taut and memorable and the videos, especially for the song “Chloroform Girl” are fascinating and disturbing at the same time. When I mention this to guitarist Jasen Stepp during our phone interview he laughs and says “we are a cheeky band, our songs are serious in nature but not in intent”.

Polkadot Cadaver will perform at The Grape Room this Sunday (April 17) with local support from Mikey Galactic, Barbarism and Cinema Cinema. The first 50 (FIFTY!) people at the door will get a FREE TICKET to our May 18 show with The Memorials (featuring Thomas Pridgen from Mars Volta).

GWAR guitarist brings side project to Philadelphia

GWAR guitarist Cory Smoot (aka Flattus Maximus) will perform with his band, Mensrea on Sunday, March 13 at The Grape Room.

Calling Richmond VA home, Mensrea can be described as a schizophrenic rain-dance of metal and hardcore archetypes. From shredding at break neck speeds giving way to experimental, if not jazz induced instrumental passages. Clearly a group of individuals, the members that comprise Mensrea share a common vision to their brand of Metal.

Also performing: Throne From Royalty, Gloominous Doom, The Fetals and Barbarism

Doors at 6pm
21+, $10 cover
